Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how ClipPilot ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service").

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your data for advertising purposes.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register for an account or purchase a subscription.

Account Registration: When you create an account, we collect specific personal identifiers to establish your identity and provide access to the Service. This includes your name, email address, and a securely encrypted password.

Payment Details: We engage a third-party payment processor, Stripe, to handle all financial transactions. While we do not store your full credit card number or bank account credentials on our servers, we may retain access to limited payment information shared by Stripe, such as your billing address, transaction history, and tax documentation, solely to manage your subscription and for accounting purposes. All payment processing is subject to the Stripe Privacy Policy.

Automated & Third-Party Collection

We may automatically collect certain technical data or receive information from third parties to facilitate your login and secure your session.

Google User Data (OAuth): If you choose to sign in using Google, we access only the basic profile information authorized by you (such as your name, email, and profile picture). Our use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies & Session Data: We utilize only "strictly necessary" cookies. These are small text files stored on your device that are essential for the website to function. They are used solely to maintain your active session, verify your identity as you navigate between pages, and ensure account security. We do not use cookies for behavioral tracking, analytics, or advertising purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the ClipPilot Service.
  • Process your transactions (via Stripe).
  • Authenticate your identity for security.
  • Send important administrative emails (e.g., password resets, billing receipts).

We do not use your data for marketing newsletters or third-party advertising.

3. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Security Measures: We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk.

Hosting: Our services and data are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States.

Retention: We retain your personal information only as long as you have an active account. If you choose to delete your account, your data is deleted immediately from our active databases.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We only share data with trusted third-party service providers necessary to operate our business, or when legally required.

Service Providers: We share data with specific third parties to facilitate our services. These partners are contractually obligated to keep your data confidential and use it only for the purposes we specify. This includes Stripe (for payment processing and fraud prevention), Amazon Web Services (for secure cloud hosting), and Google (for user authentication).

Legal Obligations & Safety: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state and federal laws (such as a subpoena or court order), to protect our rights and property, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Business Transfers: If ClipPilot is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that business transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information.

5. Your Rights & Legal Bases

California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have specific rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know: You may request details about the categories of personal data we collect and share.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions (such as tax records).
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you (e.g., by denying service or charging different rates) for exercising your privacy rights.

Do Not Sell Notice: We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or third parties. Therefore, no opt-out action is required.

European & UK Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a Contract: We process your data (such as account credentials) because it is necessary to provide you with the ClipPilot Service and fulfill the terms of our agreement.
  • Legal Obligations: We may process your information where required by law, such as keeping financial records for tax purposes or cooperating with law enforcement.
  • Consent: For optional features (like Google Sign-In), we rely on your specific permission, which you can withdraw at any time.

Your GDPR Rights: In addition to access and deletion, you have the right to rectify errors in your data, restrict processing, and request data portability.

Canadian Residents (PIPEDA)

If you are located in Canada, we process your information based on your express consent (e.g., when you sign up) or implied consent (e.g., when you use the service).

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. However, withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide the Service to you. In exceptional cases, we may process your data without consent if required by law (e.g., for fraud detection, investigations, or complying with a subpoena).

Exercising Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights listed above, regardless of your location, please contact us at: support@clippilot.com. We will verify your request by asking you to email us from the email address associated with your account.

6. Age Requirements

We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent's use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records.
